Strategically located where the Rivers Stour and Orwell meet, Harwich International Port is well placed on the East Coast of England, just under 70 miles from London. The A120 and A12 trunk roads ensure easy access and fast journey times from all London airports, and the added benefit of a railway station inside the port offers a real alternative for travellers who prefer to travel by rail.

The port has remained a traditional gateway to Holland, Germany and Scandinavia for travellers during the past century, and today serves over one million passengers every year. The dedicated and friendly cruise team at Harwich International Port take great pride in the purpose-built cruise terminal building and strive to provide a first class service to passengers and cruise lines alike.

Nearly 100,000 cruise passengers pass through the port each year and every effort is made to ensure all aspects of their experience is hassle free; whether its relaxing in the Café, transferring on the car park shuttle or waiting at one of the 27 check-in positions. Harwich International Port values every cruise call, which is why many lines and customers return year after year, including Royal Caribbean International, Voyages of Discovery, Thomson Cruises, Page & Moy and Travelscope Holidays, to make homeport calls as part of their new Baltic & North Cape itineraries.

Harwich itself is a quaint and historic seafaring town with several well-renovated buildings and interesting museums, as well as a good range of friendly bars and restaurants. Attractions within easy reach include Dedham & Flatford ‘Constable Country’, the former Roman stronghold of Colchester (Britain’s oldest town), Cambridge, famous for its centuries-old colleges and the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

The port is established as the most northerly major UK cruise port for turnaround calls and serves a number of markets, including North Cape, Baltic, Scandinavia, around Britain and Trans-Atlantic repositioning. In conjunction with East of England Tourist Board, the port is promoting exciting new excursions to many of the overlooked local tourist attractions; in an effort to attract a greater number of visitors in future years.
